SETTING YOUR WEDDING DATE

Everyone seems to have an idea of what time of year they want to get married and the seasons can really dictate the theme of your wedding. My sister really wanted a winter wedding with snow, so she planned her wedding for January, although she didn’t get the snow she wanted – it was a beautiful crisp sunny winter day!

Get a back up date too

Most couples want a Spring or Summer wedding and this means that you’ll need to be a lot more organised in setting your date, as there will be a lot of other couples wanting your wedding date and venue. So although you will have your heart set on one date, have a few up other dates up your sleeve too!

Save the date!

As soon as you have a date and your back ups in mind, let all the important people who will be sharing your wedding know and check that it doesn't clash with any other important occasions. Once everyone is happy, you should send out a save the date card – then everyone can book your wedding date in the diary. It will make organising the wedding guest list a lot easier as you will have less surprises later on.

It doesn't have to be on Saturday!

And although Saturday is a popular wedding day, getting married on a weekday may mean you can get your dream location in the month you want –and at a discount! It also means that everyone may not be booked up, although people will have to take days off work – so again organisation is key!
